Research Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Research on "Sino-Singapore Collaboration from Public Policy and Cultural Perspectives".

Requirements

The Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) and the Chinese Heritage Centre (CHC), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore invites applications for research fellowship for the Academic Year 2017/2018, to start from January 2018 or soon afterward.

The main theme of the research fellowship is “Sino-Singapore Collaboration from Public Policy and Cultural Perspectives”.

Candidates must have a PhD in one of the relevant fields of public policy, Asian studies, political science, and international political economy. Interdisciplinary and comparative approach to topics in the context of globalization is particularly welcome. The ideal candidates must be effectively bilingual in English and Chinese.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Directors of NCPA (Professor Liu Hong) and CHC (Associate Professor Yow Cheun Hoe), and other research staff at NCPA and CHC. He/she will also help coordinate NCPA’s and CHC’s research activities within NTU and with external partners. Additionally, for senior research fellowship, the incumbent will undertake the following:

  • Contribution and supervision of PhD students at the School of Social Sciences and School of Humanities, and conducting tutorials and teaching
  • Strategise and develop new research initiatives and direction
  • Lead research projects

Pre-requisites:

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree from a research-intensive university and have a demonstrated record of publications with major international journals and publishers. For senior fellowship, more than 5 years of research experience after PhD Certification is required.

Applications:

Applicants must state the research area for which they are applying for on the application form. They must demonstrate in their research plan how their expertise crosses different disciplines and relates to their research area.

Successful candidates should ideally begin their fellowship in January 2018 or soon afterward, subject to mutual agreement.  Application must be submitted in one single document

The Research Fellow schemes offered by NCPA and CHC provides funding support to promising PhD graduates who demonstrate promise in research and teaching in their fields of study. By offering new scholars the opportunity to develop research publications, hone their teaching, and network with academics, the scheme serves as a bridge between the scholars' doctoral training and their entry into faculty or other relevant careers. The research fellows' involvement in independent research under the mentorship of experienced faculty not only enhances their training as independent investigators, but also contributes to the research profiles of NCPA and CHC.
